Description The Kurma Purana is one of the eighteen principal Puranas,as stated in the Shrimad-Bhagavatam (SB 12.7.23-24). ŚrīlaBhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura remarks that only twokhaṇḍas of the Kūrma Purāṇa are now available, namely thePūrva-khaṇḍa and Uttara-khaṇḍa. Sometimes it is said thatthe Kūrma Purāṇa contains six thousand verses, but accordingto Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam the original Kūrma Purāṇa containsseventeen thousand verses. It is considered the fifteenth ofthe the eighteen Mahā-purāṇas.
